Continental Tire Brickyard SportsCar Challenge, Indianapolis Motor Speedway

July, 28, 2014

It was race day at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Continental Tire Sportscar Challenge!

Lucas Bize started the Racers Edge Ford Mustang Boss 302R from 18th in the GS class. He soon entered really good battles for position fighting his way up to 12th. A few sprinkles started to fall which led the team to prepare rain tires but, thankfully, they would not need them. After a few confusing caution flags where pit lane was not opened, Lucas was forced to pit under green flag conditions in 7th place. That was no problem for the Racers Edge crew who powered through the fuel, tires and driver change like it was easy.

David Levine was now in the car and rejoined the field with 1 hour 20 minutes to go. We temporarily lost communications with David which led to a few intense moments in the pits. Thankfully, his voice once again graced our ears and all was good. Jim knew they had to pit for fuel and left side tires at least one last time so, he carefully planned it so they would not go a lap down. With 46 minutes to go, David comes into the pits for the final time. He rejoins in 15th place. With 34 minutes to go rain started to fall again, this time a bit heavier but still no rain tires were required. The rain stopped and David started picking off competitors to grab the 10th place finishing position.

David had this to say about the race:
"To come back from a motor change and only having six laps before the race a tenth place run is great! I can't say enough about the Racers Edge Motorsports crew! Thank you so much to Gary Yeomans, Ford Racing, Keeper Security and HVT!"

If you missed the action today, be sure you tune into Fox Sports 1 on August 3rd at 12:00 pm! Our next race will be at Road America August 8-9.
